چکیده

This paper proposes a simple and efficient approach for reducing Motion Artifact (MA) in corrupted PPG (Photo Plethysmo Graphic) Signals based on AS-LMS Adaptive Filter. The performance of pulse oximeters is highly influenced by motion artifact in PPG signals. To generate the noise reference signal for an adaptive filtering process, instead of using any additional hardware such as accelerometer or source-detector pair, it is generated internally from the MA corrupted PPG signal itself. Thus the generated noise signal is applied to AS-LMS adaptive filter for artifact removal. The experimental results proved the efficacy of this scheme, hence it is suitable for present-day oximeters utilizing PPG sensor, which does not require any extra hardware for generating noise reference signal. Keywords— Adaptive filter, oximeter, Photo Plethysmo Graphic (PPG) signal, oxygen saturation, motion artifact (MA).

Motion artifact removal from photoplethysmographic signals by combining temporally constrained independent component analysis and adaptive filter

BACKGROUND The calculation of arterial oxygen saturation (SpO2) relies heavily on the amplitude information of the high-quality photoplethysmographic (PPG) signals, which could be contaminated by motion artifacts (MA) during monitoring. METHODS A new method combining temporally constrained independent component analysis (cICA) and adaptive filters is presented here to extract the clean PPG si...

Improved elimination of motion artifacts from a photoplethysmographic signal using a Kalman smoother with simultaneous accelerometry.

A photoplethysmography (PPG) signal provides very useful information about a subject's hemodynamic status in a hospital or ubiquitous environment. However, PPG is very vulnerable to motion artifacts, which can significantly distort the information belonging to the PPG signal itself. Thus, the reduction of the effects of motion artifacts is an important issue when monitoring the cardiovascular s...

Self-Adaptive Morphological Filter for Noise Reduction of Partial Discharge Signals

Partial Discharge assessment in the insulation of high voltage equipment is one of the most popular approaches for prevention of the insulation breakdown. In the procedure of thisassessment, noise reduction of partial discharge signals to get the original PD signal for accurate evaluation is inevitable. This denoising process shall be carried out such a way that the main features of the p...

The Periodic Moving Average Filter for Removing Motion Artifacts from PPG Signals

Abstract: The measurement accuracy for heart rate or SpO2 using photoplethysmography (PPG) is influenced by how well the noise from motion artifacts and other sources can be removed. Eliminating the motion artifacts is particularly difficult since its frequency band overlaps that of the basic PPG signal. Therefore, we propose the Periodic Moving Average Filter (PMAF) to remove motion artifacts....
